2004 Honda Civic - Fuel Efficiency - Is this good enough?

So i filled my 2004 Honda Civic with 50 litres - full tank!

I then recorded the mileage and it last 350 miles, 563 km. Is that good? Is this typical of a honda civic? Can it be better?

Things ive already done
1. New air filter
2. Checked tire pressure
3. Cleaned out everything in car and removed unnecessary items
4. Drive slower
5. Fuel cleaner

thats about right...infact higher than some averages that i have seen. was it mostly highway?

05CivicSi 15-Apr-2008 03:26 PM

Thats about what I get. About 550 km's to 45 litres..filling up just after the light comes on, with about 5 litres left in the tank, and filling back up at the same time. 05 Si sedan, mix driving 1/2 city 1/2 highway.

you should try to avoid letting you gas gage go down past a quarter tank...

How does this help tho?

Last tank i filled 42L and all i got was 440km. It is automatic though and all city driving. I just changed spark plugs and air filter and used fuel cleaner twice. I'll see what this tank gives me .. hopefully a little better.

That's about what my wife gets out of her full tank on the 04 Civic sedan. In the winter she only gets about 500kms on a tank, but that's b/c of the gas additives and the cold weather.

davidmk 23-Apr-2008 09:00 AM

ive gotten about that (maybe less if i didnt do highway driving) but remember also how much you boot the car uses more gas...

vtec talks to ecu, ecu talks to coolant temp, coolant temp says too cold to be beat on, ecu says no vtec for you

it doesnt help for mileage but it prevents your car from burning up all the **** in the bottom of the tank.

whoa... my 97 civic Si is getting similar numbers.... this makes me feel good :)

a lot of it has to do with the way you drive.. your shifts, style of driving etc.

drive as whats happening a few cars ahead. eg. red light, i just cruise on neutral, and slower acceleration shorter shifts

sucks for those who are driving those ford f150s..dodge rams etc..

i usually fill up when i hit my "low on gas" gauge warning which still has 10 litres left in the tank....so i get about 550 - 600 on a 40 litres of gas

btw i have 05 civic with lightweight rims

I never do that. Shyt at the bottom of tank + engine = fail

I fill up at 500kms which is equivalent to 3/4 of tank.

rjngo 16-May-2008 11:11 AM

i only do it in the summer...in the winter i fill up once im half tank.

plus i got an extended warranty 7 yrs or 160K which ever is first...anything happens at all i just bring it back to the dealership

Gallagher 16-May-2008 11:19 AM

i get 250/tank
