Honda is hard at work preparing the all-new 2012 Civic, but in order to squeeze a few extra sales from the current generation, some interior and exterior tweaks have been made to the model that will be available in European dealerships next year.

The Japanese carmaker has announced the list of features for versions of the Civic powered by 1.8 liter i-VTEC engines. The interior layout and the power output remains the same (140 hp) but a lot more equipment now comes as standard. The engine offers combined fuel consumption of 6.7 liters per 100 km (35.1 mpg) with CO2 emissions of 155 g/km. The same choice between 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission is on offer. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint remains the same, a brisk 8.9 seconds.

The main features for the five-door version of the 1.8 C-segment hatchback are a honeycomb front grille, now extended to the whole range, and a new design of alloy wheels for the GT versions. The interior has been enriched with added Alcantara and leather on the seats as standard. The front spoiler and side skirts on the three-door Type S now come in the same color as the body, which previously only came as standard on the Absolute versions.

Other features include SB / i-Pod, blue interior lighting floor, rear parking sensors, panoramic glass roof, dual zone climate control, cruise control, fog lights, light sensors and rain, alarm, electrically folding mirrors and xenon headlights with headlight washers.

The revised Civic 1.8 i-VTEC sports a pricetag of €19,990 ($26,400) in five-door form (only available in GT spec), while a three door hatch will set you back €21,390 ($28,400).

this is the euro model. we dont care much for this...as we are never gonna see it....

I didn't know a 6 speed manual was available with the base 1.8L engine...

Curious to see the 2012 civics though. The next generation ford focus looks quite impressive from what I've seen so far...

Will be hard for honda and toyota to compete in this segment moving forward with so many other great cars offered by other manufactures for more reasonable prices...

6 speed or no 6 speed we will never get this car, so it's irrelevant. This should've been posted as an FYI and specified it'd be for Europe only, otherwise people would think we'd get the hatch in North America in 2012.

The thread has been tagged European from the beginning and the article even states Euro.

What does this have to do with the CDM/USDM? It's Euro.
