civic 2010 4dr Wind Noise on driver side
Hi everybody,
Not sure if this is the right forum. I am new with this site. I used to have 2DR civic for 8 years and about 1 week ago I changed it to a new civic 2010 4DR. I found that it has wind noise that's only on the driver side starting at speed 60 km/h and as expected it goes louder as the speed goes up. I've been driving civic for the past 8 years but never get really distracted/annoyed with wind noise in the highway like this even I after put the radio on as usual volume. Without the radio, just talking with my friend in the car, it distracts the conversation. Form some forums, it seems that a few people since the start of this trim 2006 has issue with wind noise on the driver side. Does any of you has this issue? I bought the car from Castle Honda on Rexdale. I will try to bring it in on Friday and see if I have any luck with them. Do you have any suggestion how I should address this issue and to who? Thanks in advance. Ti. |
Did you purchase sound proofing? or sent it to a shop to sound proof??

I've noticed this too, it seems inherent to the latest civics. They're built like that, I don't mind it personally, but my dad hates it. If it's that big of a deal to you, lay down some dynamat

Does the wind noise overcome your talk with speed below 100 km/h? I don't think all civic 2010 has the issue, I test driven 3 of them before actually buying it. They do have noticeable wind noise in the higher speed but not below 100 km/h like mine. The other issue is only on the driver front side, around the area of the small lookout. All passenger on 3 spots (my right, 2 sides at the back) notice the sounds from that corner. This is even with a very strong wind hitting the right side.
I actually did sound shield from "Diamond Kote" by the dealer: Diamond Kote - Sound Shield. It's basically just an undercote. It does help make the sound underneath smoother. Then the dealer was saying it's also because of that, now I am hearing more on all the other sounds from above. But it still doesn't explain why it's only on the driver side corner. If I can't do anything with the dealer, is there anywhere I can bring the car to give a bit more sound proof around the window area? Any clue is appreciated since this really bothers me. |
ok, that does sound a bit weird now. For me, only at speeds over 90 km/h does it start becoming noticeable while speaking in the car. I drive a 2009, but I'm pretty sure it's basically the same car. I'm no expert, but it sounds like a bad seal on that piece of glass; maybe check the weather stripping around it and/or on the door.

I just purchased a brand new 2010 Honda Civic 4 dr 2 weeks ago. My wife started to complain about unusually loud wind-noise on the driver side too! I have not talked to Honda yet about it. Please let me know guys if you succeed in getting a replacement vehicle. Thanks!

I've had a 2007 Civic sedan for 3 1/2 years now, and have never had a problem with wind noise. I am not sure if anything was changed from the 2007 model to the 2010 model, but I doubt it very much. Consequently, I am not sure what you guys are hearing that I am not in my car.

I've had the car for about 8mths now and I have the same issue.
Would the dealer fix it for free? |
There are two possibilty from where the sound may come form on this models. 1 is from the seal around the door. 2nd is from the seal between the side mirror and the door.

I have the same issue... Any update on this?
