LSD or no LSD, some observations

Just broke something in my D series tranny, think it is the OBX LSD that grenaded. So, swapped in an old tranny I had on a shelf, open diff, out of a DX I think, Anyway, the car seems to handle better and accellerate quicker. The engine is a built D16Z6 running 12 Psi boost, tuned by the legendary Zeeman shortly before his retirement. Other than breaking the tire(s) loose in 1st and 2nd gear I'm pretty happy with the way it works and may not bother replacing or repairing the LSD unit. I'm just curious if anyone else has had similar results?

Sounds like your old tranny must have had an issue that was causing excessive drag and thus, the new tranny is letting more power go to the wheels. The only time LSD is useful is accelerating off a corner where the inside tire would just spin with an open diff, the LSD limits the slip of that tire, redirecting the rest of the power to the other outside tire which has more grip.

In a straight line, an LSD will make very little difference in acceleration right off the line, and no difference in acceleration under full grip.

Guess the preload on the diff was too tight, or maybe because you are all over the road going left and right making it seem faster?

Definitely something wrong with your other transmission. When I went from an open diff to LSD transmission, I noticed a difference in almost all aspects of driving. On the track - amazing difference.
