Red Light Cameras

On Sunday night, about 10:30 pm, going down Canon Street in Hamilton, got nailed by the "flashes" at Canon and Hughson .... anybody know if this location is actually taking pics? ... also, does anybody know if long vehicles like city buses get caught too? ... somebody told me that sometimes they just get the roof of the bus because it's 40' long???

Cheers

sometimes buses drop people off and start going through and then the light goes yellow/red and they're too slow to do anything about it so i doubt they get in **** for anythign

red light cameras are as stupid as photo radar...they don't deter, just collect money...

they should just take that money they spend putting those things in and just hire more cops, that will actually stop people from doing stupid things...

^^^

Exactly, its not like when I go through a red light its intentional! Who actually wants to run a red and risk their life? If I have ever run a red its been because of weather conditions.

the worst part is you get the ticket weeks after and you won't even remember you did anything wrong, an example of government stupidity..

Good example. If any of you haven't guessed, when I'm not praising the virtues of Amsoil, I drive a transit bus. This happens all the time. You're at a dead stop, right at the lights... close the doors, pedal to the metal, you're nose is 2 feet into the itersection, and it goes yellow .... you can't make it through before it goes read. In the recent situation on Canon St., if I was driving a car, I could have easily stopped, but when you're doing the speed limit in a bus, with a standing load of say 80 people on board, stopping would have put a bunch of people on their asses in a hurry, with a few getting hurt.

Still doesn't matter though, if the ticket comes through, I still have to pay, or my licence gets pulled.

Well isnt the rule, as long as you are into the intersection at yellow you are ok? I didnt know you had to be fully across at red.

As someone from Hamilton, I can say there is one of those camera (flashy things) near my house. It is located close to Fennell and upper James... I know a few friends and family who have claimed to have seen camera flashes of their car while driving past.

However, I don't think tickets are actually being issued. These cameras just might be a deterant.

How does a camera stand up in court? It doesn't speak, beyond what a picture might reveal.

Only one turning car is permitted in an intersection lane at a time. Being glued on the bumper of the car in front of you, front license plate in the intersection but the rest of your car not, won't pass muster with either a red light camera or a human cop.

How long does it take for the ticket / fine to be processed and delivered? ... I have talked to some folks who have seen the flashes go off, but never heard anything and never got a ticket. For my incident, it happened on July 10th, and I still haven't received anything.... Some people have told me it comes in fast (about 10 days) while others have said 6 weeks .... Keeping my fingers crossed.

Cheers

You guy's have it lucky, here in Europe, where ever you not meant to speed there's speed cameras every 500 meters in the city and on the highway the have the posts up every 500 but the cameras are mobile so you don't know which post there gonna be on when but where you can speed... LOOK OUT

Oh and our red light cameras, basicaly on every int. also catch you for speeding! So if your going to fast snap, or if you speed up for the light snap! And once they get you in a pic, if they see you are not wearing a belt, talking on the phone and have expired tags, well your screwed!
