they always check. if you've made a claim within the past 6 years, it's on record. so there's no point in not telling them. obviously if you've fixed the car yourself you wouldn't tell the insurance company. speeding tickets go away in 3 years. accident claims go away in 6 years.
what do u mean they "go away" ...say someone has an accident now.....he stops car insurance...7 years down the road he gets a car and wants insurance....when they look up his past record the accident wont exist cause it "goes away" after 6 years

if you get married now or proove that you are common-law then the rates will be even cheaper. go out and get married just to save on insurance!!!! haha!!!!!

when you hit 25 it won't matter if you are married or not. also, rates outside of the GTA are a lot cheaper. say for example Hamilton or Burlington, Oakville or Ajax...etc. it's cheaper because there are less cars in the city. also, you don't want to tell them that you rack 100,000 km/year. nor should you tell them you drive great distances to go to work. the more the car is on the road the more chance for accidents. some insurance companies give discounts if you have a security system. and some give discounts if you get home insurance from them as well.

what you should do is have the ownership transfered to your dad. so, he'll be the owner of the car. since you are 19 you are considered an adult. you should change your mailing/living address to a friends house or a relative. get your dad to buy insurance for the car for himself without a 2nd driver or occational driver. the insurance covers anyone that your dad gives permission to drive who doesn't reside in the same household. so, since you don't "technically" live at home, your dad gives you permission to drive the car and you don't have to pay the increased premium. the only drawback is the address change and you will lose your insurance experience.
Would this work if I say, lived in my mothers basement and paid rent. Hopefully but doubtfully.
