As I've gotten older and moved on, I've come to enjoy and learn about all different kinds of cars and why other people like them. I strive to be un-bias and look at

As for the mx-6, Some of them... a lot of them, have been 'riced' and imo, they look HORRIBLE...lol. But I must commend you. You've kept it clean and tasteful. I'm a very 'function over fashion' type person and I like things on a car to have a purpose. Such as wings on the back of a fwd car... doesn't make sense, especially if you don't even track the car. lol. If it doesn't have a prupose, it doesn't need to be there.

So anyways, I guess it comes down to the fact that I've never really paid close attention to them.

Appreciate your honesty I understand where you are coming from with the MX6 being riced... It happens far too often and I am determined to not make this one be the same. I agree with function over fashion..

So what would you say with the spoiler I have on now.. It came stock.. but even though it is FWD and I am sure that spoiler has zero purpose what so ever, maybe a tiny, tiny bit.. Can OEM still be considered rice?

Oem wings are fine in my books. They came with the car and are simply an accessory. Some look good, others, not so much.

My 00 civic SiR had the oem 'high wing' and I removed it not only because I didn't like it, but also because it obstructed my rear view mirror.

The oem wing on the MX-6 is nice beause it's not big and in your face. It's subtle and tasteful.

The wings I was refering to before would be the giant moulded show car wings, multi-layered wings and those aftermarket aluminum wings that some people put on and set them at a rediculously steep angle so they actually cause more drag and slow the car down...lol

Ahhhh I hear ya I see quite a few of those types in town.. Their is a black sunfire that I saw about a year ago with a massive wing.. I hadn't seen this car for quite some time. I was hoping it died.. then I saw it recently with an even bigger wing and a body kit with obnoxiously loud dual magnaflow's. Yikes.

I have a soft spot for drift spec. wings.. something about them... but I can't see myself putting one on a DD. :P

Update:
Friend of mine just acquired another mx6 project and is parting out most of the car. I have been looking for a CAI for a while, Couldn't justify spending $200+ on something that just sucks air.. and isn't really going to benefit me in the performance area. So he called me up and gave me the CAI... Spent about an hour fiddling and fussing... Now it's on, looks good and sounds really cool.

It burbled a lot before.. but it seems to really burble now. Quite impressed. I'll throw up a pic later.

I think I seen this car on cardomain.
looks nice lowered.
I always liked the MX6 because of the low ride height and low cowl.

I do have a CD account
I agree they do look nice lowered. The one thing though is the aftermarket suspension option's aren't in high demand and so their isn't much out there to choose from

Update:
Picked up a CAI from a friend who was parting out his car, installed it on Friday... grabbed some pictures today. Don't mind the dirty engine bay. I will be taking it over the winter so I can fix it up, paint it.. etc. The VC & IM will be painted/polished next year, The battery will be gone, and random other things.. Big changes for 2011.

That's it for now

Becareful with that filter.it better be a high quality one. cause its very close to the ground.you woudn't want water or dirt in your engine. Didn't aem have a protector or something for their cai?

ummm... wow that's close to the ground. yikes.

No offense, but I'd change that. It will get dirty very fast and also suck up water very easily.

Engine bay looks great though.

Amanda, that air filter down there is a BIG No No ! You dont want dirt and water to go in. That is prime location for dirt and water. That air filter should be right in the front grill, if possible.

I don't have much room to fiddle around with the location of the filter.. All the CAI's for the MX6 seem to go in the same place.. I did though take it apart and fiddle with the piping.. I actually flipped it around, tilted the upper pipe (near the TB) upwards more and it's sitting MUCH better.. It's not sticking out the bottom of the car anymore.. I tried to get it behind the fog light as best as possible... I have driven it in the rain and didn't have any issues, so I am hoping it's high enough. I'll be checking it frequently when it's raining to see if the filter is getting too wet or wet at all. I'll probably be taking it out before the snow falls and going short ram with a heat shield. Maybe someone can help me figure out a good location if I ever bring it to a meet.. I am always up for a different opinion..

Thanks for letting me know of the iffy location instead of just letting me suck water up there.. :P Hahahaha.

Update:

I am having some headlight housing issues with the angel eyes and it's getting annoying.. I don't like driving around and not having reliable headlights. :P So.. decided to take down the old headlights, take them apart, clean them inside and out (wet sand & polish)... etc. Sealed them up last night and they should hopefully be fine today to put on the car. Did the side markers as well. So over the winter I am going to take the angel eyes apart, re-spray the housing, buy GTS clear covers, Honda s2000 projectors and get the halo's working.

Will post pics later.. they look really good. Rob (Soarer guy) helped me out. Gotta love team work!

Update:

OEM headlights & corners are back in and look amazing! Much better light output than the ebay dual angel eyes I had in there. Rob & I took them apart, completely cleaned inside and out... wet sanded & polished the lenses & the corners. Put them back in last night, awesome awesome. I have to admit I REALLY missed my oem lights.. So, today I am going to be taking my tail lights and going back to oem with those too. They have VHT night shade on them. Looked cool at first but now I want to go back to original.

Looks good. But please, no eyelids! And question for you, while you had the headlights out and undone, couldn't you do a black housing DIY for them? (or maybe you didn't want, i don't know, i'm only asking)

Well since they aren't projectors and the whole housing is a reflector, it wouldn't really work well... so I just left them alone. I am not doing eye lids, no worries :P

What are your plans for coilovers? (Like, what's in the market for your model, i'm guessing it's different than honda.)

D2 Racing - Haven't heard much about these.
K-Sports - Bad reviews & expensive.
Yonaka Motorsports - Heard good reviews & decently priced.

It seems I can also use Tein SS's off of a specific Protege5. I don't remember which year but would it be a huge difference going from 4cyl. to a 6cyl.?

I haven't found much for the MX6... the hunt continues

Update:
Tail lights were scuff sanded today and finished with clear coat. They look amazing. If anyone has VHT Night shade on their tails.. don't be intimidated by what people say.. It's SUPER easy to get off with just wet sanding. No damage to the lens with harsh paint thinners.

Will be putting them on in the morning. Here is a shot of them waiting to be put on...
