Door Popper Problems

Hey everyone,

New here to the forums. I bought my 2004 Honda Civic in 2010. When I purchased the vehicle the door handles were already shaved and door poppers installed.

Currently, my driver side door is not popping open. Neither is my passenger side, but that door also wont open from the inside, so not sure if that is two separate problems or not. Basically, I am having really bad luck...

When I press the button on the remote to pop open the doors I can hear clicking from the box under my steering wheel. I pulled off the covers under there and found the box. It's a small black box that the wiring for the door poppers is running to. However, all it does is click in the box. There is no usual loud popping sound for the doors and nothing happens.

It should also be noted that I let my car sit there for a month while I didn't need it and after being gone from my apartment for 2 weeks I tried to pop the doors and the passenger door popped open last Wednesday. But nothing since then. Not sure if it is some kind of battery problem. But the car starts up fine, maybe there is a second battery that was installed just for the door poppers?

Does anyone know what this problem may be? I am trying to fix this myself instead of taking into a shop, since I can't really afford that at the moment.

Thanks!

step one, buy stock doors....

but all kidding aside, they probably have a separate battery, or form sitting they have become sticky. Not sure, I have basically no knowledge about door poppers just that they use solenoids which can stick after periods of non use. Most cars with them also have a bypass button somewhere on the car to use when the car battery is dead I think. As for why the one wont open even from the inside is likely a non related issue, or something broke as a result of the popper trying to go and failing.

Pull the door cards off, and check for power to the solenoids when you hit the button, if they have power and nothing happens, the solenoid is the problem. Also look around the linkage on the pass door to see why it won't open while you're in there.
