Car battery replacement = remote starter dead

Is there something common that I could check for in this situation?

Not sure when I'll have a chance to bring the car in to have it checked out.

Basically, just replaced the car battery (not the remote battery) and the remote starter no longer works. The blue light that would normally be on the receiver does not light up. The car doesn't try to crank, nothing.

I don't know a whole lot about remote starters but I think you'll need a bit more info on the brand you have for any real help. Other then that I'm guessing like my moms one she had years ago you need to reactivate it after a dead battery or install. Did you have it installed somewhere? If so they can likely show you how to reset it after something like this. That or look up the manufacturer online and see if they can help.

It's a compustar and I found the manual online but it doesn't really offer much help other than how to re-program the remote.

Is there any fuses added to the car for the remote starter/receiver? Maybe since it's likely a parasitic load on the battery the fuse blew when the battery was changed. I know some cars you have to do things like key in, "ON" position and then press the brake X times and then "OFF" or something to that effect. Check for fuses and make sure that it's all still hooked up, possibly the receiver was just unplugged from it's power supply and if you still have nothing I'd try looking for a "contact us" link on their website.

Hey...same thing happened to me...also a compustar alarm (PRO 2w9000)... my batt died...had it replaced by CAA...next thing I know my remote starter wont work.

1. Try reprogramming the remote so that the car receiver and remote are 'talking' to each other again. For compustar...you need to cycle the ignition between 'on' and 'acc' 5 times in under 10 seconds...then hit the 'lock/unlock' (usually button 1) on your remote...the parking lights should do a few flashes to confirm the remote is programmed...

2. If this fails to fix the problem and/or you have already tried this...99% sure you will have to bring in your car to wherever you had your alarm installed. Compustar brains are VERY finicky when it comes to power surges, dips and fluctuations etc ..good news is tho...what solved my issue (2 times) was just a quick firmware update of the compustar 'brain'... I was in and out of the shop in 20 minutes with my remote start (and alarm) back up and running.

Like I said...bring it back to your shop for them to do the firmware update...if you need a shop recommended to you...look up Lockdown Security in Scarborough...ask for Jeff...real good guy and they deal primarily with compustar.
