I used to sell car audio for a living back in the late 90s. At that time, a good head unit was $300, and even the lowest-priced units from Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer, etc, were north of $200.

These days, you can get a head unit from a good manufacturer for $100.

With prices so low, is head unit theft still a problem?

Which is exactly why I asked the question. With the demand for head units having been supplanted by our love of free music and portable "iCrap" devices, is there a need to worry about someone stealing your Kenwood head unit?
