Type R exhaust question

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of changing my stock exhaust and getting a Type R. Currently have D16y8 with an aftermarket header, stock cat and stock muffler. Do i just need to get the Type R muffler or do i need both Type R muffler and mid pipe ?

Thanks for the help

Depends, changing the muffler will make the car a slight bit louder, but the stock type r muffler is still a relatively quiet setup. Power wise the mid pipe would be needed, and your stock cat, while you need it for emissions and an aftermarket one will pass one e-test, if it's brand new and there is nothing else wrong is also restrictive and all done you're not actually gonna see any real gains. On a y8, intake, throttle body, intake manifold, header, cat, cat back will make it sound nicer, and yes you will make a few more HP, even get a hair better fuel mileage but your not gonna see much in the way of power gains, you may even loose bottom end power.
