2002 Civic LX-exhaust manifold leak

hey guys..so as I am sure you've been told...these are apparently a common problem on the 01+ Civics...my car has about 150K now. I just had the timing belt replaced and shortly after I found out that the exhaust manifold has a leak...

On the LX and DX models...we have the 4 in 1 manifold then the catalytic converter right on top of it then the downpipe-so all 1 unit I guess...translated...freaking expensive

Ive phoned several shops across the border...Autozone, Napa etc and they average around $550 and some with lifetime warranty...Canadian stores average around $900+ for the same part...

Is it possible to have the manifold removed and welded as a cheaper alternative...would you recommond a store that has competitive pricing for this part?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks.

Maybe not a cheaper fix but better bang for your buck, look into after market performance headers/cat for your car or the Si model, same motor.

Have you checked out the junkers? Or like ol Dusty says, use an aftermarket header. However, with an aftermarket header, you'd have to move your cat to under your car and extend the O2 sensor wires.

Try standard auto wreckers. I needed a Sebring exhaust manifold for the same reason, for quarter of the price, they ordered me a new one. Sounds weird since its junk yard and they are getting me a brand new manifold, but hey, as long as it bolts up and has no leaks, its all good!
