Total japanese is a scam

TOTAL JAPANESE DOMESTIC MOTORS
55 MIDWEST ROAD
SCARBOROUGH, ON MIP 3A6 KARIM IS A SCAM

MONEY HUNGRY SCAM SHOP IN SCARBOROUGH
DOESNT CHARGE TAX SO HE CAN SCREW YOU IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG.

HE TELLS YOU TO PAY CASH WITH NO TAX AND HE WILL COVER ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS WITHIN A YEAR, AND HE WILL WRITE IT ON THE PAPER.NOTHING IS TRUE COMING OUT OF THAT SHOP

THE STORY: NO TAX IN ANYTHING HE SOLD ME
Went to his shop to buy a b18c type R complete charged me $4000 98+
He told me he does install for $650 if i want a year warrenty
After he told me to do the timing belt and water pump which he didnt do
After he told me to do the clutch so he can stand by his word on the warrenty
I had no problems told him to do it.
Came to pick my car up in a week I noticed the RPM Is Idling at 1100 RPM
HE SAID ITS NORMAL ALL TYPE R B18C DO THAT
I drove the car like that for 2 months wasting the gas like crazy
(thank god i did my oil changes really fast I couldve blown the engine)
After calling him and complaining that im wasting soo much gas HE SENT ME to another shop that chip and tunes and they told me that
KARIM IS A ...... for saying thats normal HE JUST WANTED U TO DAMAGE UR MOTOR HE DOES THAT ALOT CAUSE HE DOESNT KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT
I paid an extra 500 for a obd 1 ECU and new vtec solinoid and to chip and tune it which shouldve been done when I first got the engine installed by him.

After the idling was fixed and it was driving normal I noticed the clutch was sticking. His "mechanic" told me cause the rpm was soo high that i burnt the flywheel and clutch
went back to karim he said you've been driving the drive for 5 months now how do u want warrenty on ur clutch. He didnt even want to help me out on the parts just told me to get lost.

Other stories Ive heard
-sold my friend a 4 door type R resisnator and didnt want to take it back
-Sold a climate control CF no lights worked didnt want to take it back
-The tires he has in stock new or used are all garbage looks good when they are new but only lasts 8000km max
-Sold CTR SEATS and said they are ITR bracket didnt fit and he didnt want to exchange
-HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHAT HE HAS JUST A WASTE OF TIME

hmmm, weird i bought a OBD 0 B16 from year like 4 years ago.... still runs no major issues with it..... maybe just a bad engine? Regardless he should have had the engine replaced from the begining. For the price you paid im sure -------- would have done a better job installing it, hell i would have done a better job and would have changed your timming belt and water pump!!! I hate people the **** over people just hate them!!! Best of luck tho.

It"s not the parts that he has that are bad. It's just that he doesnt know what he's doing and what he's selling. If you're gonna charge someone top dollar at least chip and tone the car. He's a type R killer, telling me it's normal to idle at 1100rpm poor engine

yeah, that place is a joke. personal first hand experience, the guy treat customers like ****. until you wave some cash infront of his face but once you left your money with him, DO NOT expect any type of service if there is any slightest problem occurs. i've seen enough people bitched about it, definately should put it up on other forums to warn others.

Ok, your engine idling at 1100 will not hurt it. I can't speak for the rest of the story, whether it's true or not, but I know that you're over-reacting about a slightly high idle. 1100 will not do any damage or hurt it in any way. Also, how do you know the timing belt and water pump were never changed? As for the clutch, what clutch did you buy to have installed?

I have dealt with this place a few times over the years and never had an issue. Bought new tires from him twice and they have been fine (so far).

sicdc2, I mean you no disrespect, but sometimes the customer can make a bigger deal of a minor issue and when the customer harps on the sale's man, it makes them less inclined to help you. I'm not standing up for Karim, or Total Japanese, but as an outside observer to this situation, I can see where the both of you could be in the wrong.

HE SUPPLIED EVERYTHING ALL PARTS AND LABOUR I JUST PAID AND PAID

STOCK TYPE R IS SUPPOSE TO IDLE AT 700-900 rpm MAX I WAS PUTTING $50 TO FILL AND GOT 220KM MAX OUT OF A TANK YOU SHOULDVE SEEN MY SPARK PLUGS.
WOULD YOU DRIVE AROUND DUMPING GAS KILLING UR VALVES AND PISTON RINGS?
IF I HAD SKUNK2 CAMS AND MORE I WOULDNT BE TOO WORRIED BUT IT WAS ALL STOCK

WHAT'S DONE IS DONE BUT HE COULD'VE JUST TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A LICENCED MECHANIC AND GOT IT DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AND NOT .... ME OVER. I WOULDVE BEEN HAPPY TO PAY MORE TO GET A PROPER JOB HATE MICKY MOUSE SHOPS

HE TOLD ME HE WILL INSTALL A NEW WATER PUMP AND TIMING BELT BUT WHEN I TOOK THE VALVE COVER OFF TO CHANGE THE VALVE COVER GASKET THE BELT WAS NOT NEW AND THAT WAS 3 MONTHS AFTER INSTALL

ILL FIGURE OUT WHAT KINDA CLUTCH HE PUT IT IN "IF HE EVEN CHANGED IT" IN A MONTH ON MY NEXT PAY CHECK CANT EVEN DRIVE IT NOW

EVERYTIME I WENT TO BACK TO HIS SHOP TO ASK HIM TO CHECK MY CAR ITS IDLING HIGH HE SAID ITS NORMAL. I NEVER RAISED MY VOICE ONCE AT HIM OR EVER
"harps on the sale's man" SO HE HAD NO REASON TO TELL ME ITS NORMAL.
WHY LIE YOUR RUNNING A SHOP MUST NOT BE TOO SMART. I JUST WALKED OUT OF HIS SHOP WITH A SMILE WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.
I WONDER IF THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT HIS CASH INCOME????

Again, idling at 1100 vs 900 will NOT cause any harm. What WILL cause harm is a bad tune. That is why you were dumping gas like crazy. That is why your spark plugs looked bad. The tune was not right. It had nothing to do with the idle. The idle can actually be manually adjusted, so you could have fixed that in 5 mins.

If I were going to be laying down that kind of money for an engine swap like that, I would make sure A) I'm getting the right chip with the right tune included in that cost and get that in writing so that there is some kind of legal contract. B) I would have wanted to see the new clutch, timing belt and water pump. When you are paying a shop to do work and you are not there to watch, you have to trust them. This is partly why I do all work on my own car. Yes the shop should have done the work they said they would do. Again, I'm not standing up for this place. I haven't seen your car for myself so I can't say for certain they didn't do the full job. But whether you're telling the truth or not, when you pay a shop in cash with no receipt or written contract, you are taking a gamble.

I mean, that's a lot of money. I would have gone out of my way to make sure everything was done right. But that's just me. I agree, they should have done the job right in the first place.

wow, 4k$ is alot of money. Thats ALOT of trust to put into someone. My last swap was $1500 (straight swap; k24) and i was at the mechanics shop every night. still regret going there but whats done is done.

As MPR said, 1100 is not a biggie. as for your "threats" about tax evasion and whatnot, stop bluffing and call it a day.

So from your last post.... You ONLY took off the valve cover 3 months after install? Whyyy? :S should've done it the day/week of install...

I've been there once, didn't buy anything though.

With the 4k$ you spent, did you at least get an invoice of some sort? (again, thats alot of money for a swap....regardless what motor it may be...)

Karim lol... He changed his name of his shop because it probably had a bad rep lol... I used to know him from Shine Japanese Auto Parts... I bought my motor and tranny from him years ago. Boy did I have a run around. Sending me to like 3 different shops. The 1st shop he sent me to Optimum Performace a Guy named Lim did my install but gave me alot of run arounds. After I got my car back I had problems with High Idle and the transmission... Spoke to Karim and I told him that the high idling can be adjusted and he told me to take it to another shop to have the idling and tranny checked. They guy said the idling is fine now with a minor adjustment and the tranny seems to be fine. So I went home... Had my mechanic check it out at some other shops and they said its the LSD in the tranny thats a problem. I then called Karim again and said bro What I purchased is not driving right. You need to ----ing fix it. He said ok take it back to the shop. Took it back and then Karim called me and asked if its ok to drop an Integra Transmission... I said yeah thats fine aslong as it is good one. Got my car back and it was perfect. One week after I dropped in a new Exedy Clutch and Fidanza Flywheel and I was on the road... However, I made sure I paid Karim with a Credit Card for the engine because I can always dispute the charge if he tried to ---- with me. I have my ride for sale in the Sale section and never had a problem since... I do all the work myself go to my fathers best friend who is a retired Honda mechanic who runs his friends shop here in Markham.

I agree, i just bought a B16B motor and trans, cost me $3300 and the axel will not come out of the trans, Everything i have read says that whoever put it in didnt put it in right and not the splines of the axel have mashed with the inner splines of the trans and mated. I found this out after my axle seal starting leaking a few days after the swap went into my EK. He said he would help me out but now just keeps saying the same ---- over and over saying that its my fault and theres nothing he can do. I thought it was odd the axle was not out of the trans already when i bought it because they usually are but didnt really think much about it, Live and learn but he could have atleast helped me out. Plus his warrantys if you look at them, say 6 week warranty on "Start up assembly" so its not even like he is actually warrantying the engine or trans itself. He is definately a scammer and has burnt me before too. I would not recommend him to anyone!!!
