New Battery Keeps Dying
Hey all,
So i just replaced my battery about 2 weeks ago with a Champion battery (not quite the champion). Since then, i've had to boost it 4 times (really f'n pain).
One guy that boosted me was saying that Civics should have Honda batteries in them and that any other tends to drain fast in the cold weather. Any ideas?
Sometimes the negative terminal gets loose (the sleeve will ride up half way). I'm still able to put accessories on, but the car will not start, it just dies.
Anyone else have this problem or solution? It's a f'n gamble everytime i go to start my car. No dates for me until i get this fixed.
Thx.

Yeah hahah whatever idiot told you that you need a honda battery is clearly retarted... I have and energizer 600cca and it works just fine in the coldest of days and the battery is a year old now so tighten your **** and if its still dying then your alternator must be bad, check it should be running aroundf 13 or 14amps at idle if not then get urs rebuilt or buy a new alternator i know around here its only $56 to rebuild it so... goodluck man

If the car won't start, it is the battery, not alternator. Once the engine runs, it is the alternator that keeps it going. If the car dies after the engine started, then check alternator.
Tight down your terminals. Loose end will also contribute to a difficult start-up.
Unless you have a light weight battery that only has 260CCA or there about, then you could have trouble start your car in such cold weather.

Go to Costco, and buy a Kirkland Signature battery, made by Johnson Controls Inc., It has 625 CA and 500 CCA, more cranking power than OEM, and only cost 48 dollars.
I just bought one tonight. My OEM one lasted me 7 years. It will not hold a charge if I park it for 6 days, and that's with no parasitic loads (no alarms, nothing).
