mini me swap question (knock sensor)

Ok i recently completed a mini-me swap, on my 98 civic D16y7 block. im using a Y8 head and l.6 el ECU not shure of the year, but after installation the check engine light comes on. I checked out the problem and its because my block doesn't have a knock sensor. Now what can i do to fix this problem? Do i need to install a knock sensor or is there another way around this? like another ecu?

You will have to ask Cablerat to chip your computer to remove the knock sensor programming. This is the cheapest route. Slip him a hundie, and I'm sure he'll do it. If you wanna spend more, you can visit hyperduck tuning. Alternatively, you can install a knock sensor.

I must also say, I'm very impressed that you built yourself a mini-me I hope you plan to do a write-up for the site's DIY section

never even looked inside an EL ecu. Id have to find the program for it as well.

Knock sensor is a B*TCH and a half man.. I despise knock with a passion! heheheh.. You can try to put in a knock sensor, BUT from my research I've read that a knock sensor is built for that one engine.. so putting in a different knock sensor may cause it to operate differently.. I dunno if that's crap, maybe someone can verify?

You gotta make sure your knock wire is shielded as well, any magnetic interferences can mess up the reference voltage and throw you back into safe mode.

That block has a spot for the knock? usually around oil filter.

Really knock is kinda pointless because in most engines it doesn't do anything after like 4,000 rpm (i think) because the readings are too much for it to actually work, and ofcourse when would it be most important? when your beating the **** outta the car right..

I'll see if i can find any info, what's the ECU code? P??

thanks.

for such a large project problems are usually expected, esp DIY for the first time. It's a challenge, not a problem
