I'm not asking about oil changes...but rather spark plugs..wires cap/rotor. I have 140k. I got the car with 88,000k. I've never done a tune-up on the car....except oil that is.

Check the maintenance calculator available on the Honda Canada website. I did a full tune up at 100,000 and I do the plugs twice a year just because they are cheap.

Any idea when the spark plug wires need changing?

(this might get deleted) but there is a midnight madness sale coming up soon, and cap and rotor and wires and many more goodies will be on sale.

Just wondering when these things need changing.

check a maintenance manual, it will give you the specifications for plug wires, measure yours, if the resistance in in spec, then they are good and are conducting as good as any new ones you will get.

If you have 140K I'd say you need a tune up then. Plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter. Change all of your fluids, timing belt/water. Use Honda parts because they are the best.

do it when ever you need to do it, you can do some tests like measure spark plug wire resistance to see if its still within spec, why throw away money if you dont need to

DIY! tune ups and tests are the perfect way to start learning about your motor. Grab a manual some basic tools and start learning

I would suggest changing the wires every 100K, and if one needs to test, just drive the car into a dark garage and spray some water on the wires. The mist will cause arcing if there are rips in the wire. I've seen 18 year old Toyotas still running good on original wires and cap and rotor that show the year from the 1980s, while I've seen Chrysler cap contacts wear out only after 50K. 100K is safe, IMO.

I forgot to add that I've let our 1995 Accord with 175K still run with the stock wires, and it's still purring (But I'm not saying you should do the same thing though. Honda OEM parts are just really really good).[/B][/QUOTE]

Most people will not touch spark plug wires until they notice performance loss. IE - bad gas mileage, hesitation and so on..
