Honda Engine

Howdy folks I am really new to the honda world. I just recently purchased a 96 honda coupe 5 speed ex. After I purchased it I noticed that it has the wrong engine in it. It has a d16z6 and I believe its suppose to have a d16y8. I live in california and the car was smogged with the other motor in it then it was switched out. Can someone let me know if it does suppose to have the Y8 motor in it or not? (vin 1HGEJ8104t****).
Also there is a check engine light on saying knock sensor but this engine doesnt have that sensor. How do I go about changing that or fixing this cel?

Thanks In Advance.. any info would help

The reason for the CEL for knock sensor is because you're right about the wrong engine being in there. z6 is basically the same 1.6L VTEC SOCH motor as a y8, but a different manifold and the y8 has a knock sensor. There is a trick involving wiring a resistor to make that CEL a non issue, but for further smog testing, this could be a problem. I don't live in Cali and don't know all of the laws regarding swaps there tho.
