(I know nothing about cars) I recently had a buddy install a B16b Type R in my 99 Civic ex that I use as a daily commuter. The original engine took a crap on me and he said I was better off getting a new engine. He sent me a link to a site and told me the B16b Type R would fit right in. Hasn't giving me any issues but I've noticed it's hard to find parts for it. Many places can't look up the engine. He also told me I will need a new air intake since we used the stock one from my D16y8 but I can't find anything that would fit. Help please!

As far as your engine goes for anything other then internal parts, just have them look up parts for a 99 Si. It had a B16a, basically the same motor, same timing belt, water pump, distributor, wires, probably same plugs, tho for this I might either google first or bring the old ones in and match up (I always recommend NGK for Honda)

All the differences between a Civic Type R and Si motor/trans are internal. The same clutch, flywheel can be used as well. The mounts etc. The type R motor is basically Honda took an Si motor and then had the factory beef up that motor with some stronger components and add a little more aggressive cams, pistons and clean up the casting inside for better air flow to make a little more power at a higher RPM.
