Need Some Help - CEL P0505 - Looping Idle

So last night a loop in the idel started. It goes from 1000 to 2500 and back. Now this morning it is stuck at high idel (1600) and the check engine light came on. The code is P0505. whcih is idel control systems. It is a 1998 civic dx (d16y7). I just recently did a throttle body service.

Any ideas? Possible idle air control valve??

Thanks in advance. Any help is much appricatied.

Gavin

sounds like it. try cleaning the iac valve. very easy and quick to do.
here is a diy i followed when i did it
DIY cleaning your IACV - Honda Forum / Acura Forum - SuperHonda.com

also about the pcv valve, when was the last time you changed it?
it costs 12$ or so and 5minutes of your time. last time i did mine, my car felt a little bit more alive

Gavin, bring it by the shop man. We're all going to be there wednesday evening, pop by and we'll tell you what we think it is.

p.s. after actually reading the thread. It's probably the IACV. Go find a 3pin iacv and see if that fixes it. If not, you either have a bad ECU, or a shorted wire somewhere(i doubt that though).
