Just swapped tail lights. Left side fits after taking padding off of the back of the light but the right side is noticeably misaligned. Seems that the housing isn't fitting properly against the body but it's really hard to tell. All the bolts align, etc. but the trunk barely misses hitting the light when it closes. Any suggestions on how to fix/what I should look for to adjust?

there are little bumper grommets on the trunk for slight adjustments, but it may not work for this situation.

has the vehicle been in a rear end collision? this may be causing the alignment issue. also you can remove the 4 bolts on the trunk and re-install. You can slightly adjust the trunk with the bolts for the trunk hinge.

I'm really not sure. The fact that it might've been hit is the first thing I thought of. I'm not the first owner of the car and the history of it is a bit...nonexistent. It's not aligning with the actual body of the car so messing with the trunk won't fix it. I guess I'll take it to someone who's a little better at these things and let them fiddle with it!
