How long can you wait to get a recall fixed?
My car is a 1999 and I recently discovered that there was a recall for the ignition switch. I am going to find out tomorow from the previous owner if they had this done, as I am having symptoms of what this recall fixed. Does anyone know if there is an expiry date on when recalls can be fixed? My car has well over 200km on it. But I figured since its a recall they should do it no matter what.

recalls can be done whenever.
aslong as the car is affected by it.
if you take it in for service and the car isnt affected by the recall after they check the car (assuming they didnt find any records or your vin wasnt part of the recalled cars) you can be charged for the service check.

Glad that Honda is taking the initiative to do a recall. There will be criticisms over this possible defect. But defects happen, that's just part of the manufacturing process. The important thing is that Honda is not hiding the defect to save their name, but instead protecting the consumer's interest by warning them of the problem. Nice to know that ethical car companies do really exist.
