People joining this forum, posting once to sell their crap and leaving their account.
i dont know if this is common or not but i find recently there have been a lot of new members making >5 posts either asking for mechanical help or posting things for sale and not checking.
Its kind of frustrating that people can post in the for sale being a brand new member with no new posts. I just had someone post something, and not check their pm's for 2 weeks thinking that they would get an email notification. in this time the item was already sold.
Most forums that ive been to make you have to have a min post count / been a member for certain time or both to post in the FS section.
I think it would be a benefit to move the site in that direction even if the min post count is like 10. We would have a much livlier forum i think by forcing people who want to sell their crap to make some sort of contribution.
it may help clean up the FS section with stuff that is already sold or never should have been posted in the first place = less work for mods.
just an idea.

This topic has been discussed before..
Its a good idea, but also a bad one..
new people sign up, have to make 10-15 posts witch will 95% be useless then use the classifieds and leave..
why not just let them use the classifieds and leave?.
if you dont get a reply back from them in a day or two, they obviously dont want to sell their product that bad, or dont care.
I'll bring this topic back up with the other Admins and Mods and see what they think about it this time.

Thanks, its just kinda frustrating when people make FS posts that they dont check. I agree that it could be bad for making people post even more useless crap.
Perhaps the be a member for one month could apply. I think at 8thcivic they have it 30 day min membership.
Either way, whatever you guys come up is what happens.

In 7thgenhonda.com the min post is 125, which is a bit much.
If people are just on here to post items for sale, it will benifit all the members of this forum moreso than if they didnt post their stuff. Think about it. If 20 people join the site today and post their random crap for sale, it will benefit lotsa people looking for parts. They should be encouraged to include their contact info like email or even phone number, and not just PM.

All valid points
But making it difficult for people to post in the FS section also means less items being posted there which will affect members trying to find parts.
Most people should get a hint if the person posting an item for sale does not respond and also if the person posting an item for sale does not post a contact #...
Also to be fair , most of the members posting items on the FS section are regulars..
But i guess thats a decision the mods have to discuss

in my opinion..this shouldnt be an issue...at all!
cuz if someone is using the classified section to post ...even if its just 1 post..its still helpful..its not jus helping them..its also helping us...i mean, if they dont use this site, some of us wont know if theres a great deal out there...so why not jus appreciate that...
plus no ones complaining about inactive users...and someone signing up for a helpful tip..we should jus be happy that we're helping someone out...its not a major issue, not like our admin is providing us with 5 gb of storage space..its just a web forum...i dont find it a problem

just to add my own opinion
I never really had a problem with the for sale section. I emailed a couple of people and I ve always got a reply ..
I dont really think its perfect , but I would say it works 8 out 10.. I rather have 1 or 2 people not reply than loose 10 potential salers because of strict rules

Now while you have moved on to another part of the forum and some other harmless guy bumps their thread, that other guy will immediately re-bump his thread.
So what happens is, the bump-aholic now has 3 pages of bumps in 1 day. Then the cycle begins where the avg user who bumps once a day now starts bumping every thread, every hour.
Now the moderators are moderating just the classifieds and deleting bumps. But yet now there are new concern threads about how the mods are over zealous and over-moderate users.
Easier to NOT allow bumping unless you are a subscriber.
The resolution is in place and has been for some time.

generally and hypothetical.
Yea, nothing is changing for now. It has been working great for the last year or so. Subscribers can bump threads as far as I can remember

Not only that but you might have a guy that has been on tcc for years but never posts... Is he not allowed to sell stuff? You always have lurkers who know more about whats going on in the forum then some of the big posters. Many people just lurk and come out when the time is right ie. Posting items for sale.
