y7 mini me swap y8
hi just wanna ask i want to do a mini me swap on my d16y7 engine to y8 head?
just wanna know what are the other things needed to do the swap do i need to change my y7 harness to y8 harness?and what ecu is the best to use?
please let me know
i already got a y8 head and intake manifold
give me a list of things i need to do the swap
thank you in advance

I think all you need is the ECU from a y8, or depending on emissions testing in your area and your car, a chipped p05/6/28 etc (OBD1) ECU to run the new head with an appropriate map on it, then you can reuse your existing harness, but it may need a few tweaks, like adding in VTEC and possibly mods to the IAC, IAT or other sensors involved...
.:FFS TechNet:.
Hunt around on this great site and you'll find info on your swap for wiring, or if you have a y8 harness that may make things easier, you'll still need to wire VTEC (2 wires) from the harness tower connector to the ECU, which when you do wire things, if you're going to an OBD1 conversion, a conversion harness to the new ECU will have leads on it already going to things you might be adding to the car for things like VTEC

p2p would be the right ecu for that motor, again I still don't know what car you're talking about...
dizzy maybe, but you probably need the y8 one. Been awhile since I did any D series stuff, and with B series you need the VTEC dizzy for a VTEC head, but that's partly due to the bolt pattern.

OK, so I can't say anything regarding emission testing in your area cause I just don't know anything about your area.
For the swap to work, the P2P is perfect, best case, use the Y8 harness, things reach where they're supposed to go without you having to hack things up and solder (less perfect resistance = ECU gets improper info) or rewire things with info on that link I posted, it's in there. If you have a Y8 intake manifold that will make things easier with the Y8 harness, and perform better, plus the Y8 harness will have VTEC wiring in it already, you just gotta run the 2 wires from the tower part of the harness connector to the ECU. Other then that I think there may be a wiring issue with the IAC depending on year the Y8 swap came from VS you car.
